Work with us

Hi there and welcome to The Travel Hack. I’m so pleased you’re interested in working with me or a member of The Travel Hack team. If you can’t find the information you need on this page, please feel free to email me – [email protected]

Here are just some of the brands I’ve worked with.

What is The Travel Hack?

The Travel Hack is one of the UK’s leading travel blogs, focusing on affordable luxury travel.

According to Vuelio we’re one of the top 10 UK travel blogs and according to Yahoo! Travel we’re number 2!

Our main focuses are weekend travels and stylish adventure travel. We pride ourselves on providing gorgeous travel inspiration combined with first-hand travel advice, unique guides and travel tips that people won’t find elsewhere. We give lots of advice to encourage people to travel more, take more weekend breaks and help our readers find unique experiences at affordable prices.

Who are our readers?

Our main readers are professional women aged 25-35 who travel as part of a couple. They’re based in the UK (mostly) and also the USA. They’re independent and adventurous, travel savvy and budget conscious but they’re happy to splash out for special occasions and for unique experiences. They take one ‘big holiday’ a year and lots of weekend breaks to fuel their wanderlust throughout the year.

How did it all start?

The Travel Hack was founded by me, Monica Stott, in 2009. I left the UK to backpack around Asia and Australia for two years. I started the blog because I eventually wanted to pursue a career in journalism. I imagined the blog would be my portfolio of written work for when I applied for jobs but I had no idea travel blogging would become my job!

When I returned from my backpacking trip I worked as an Editorial Assistant on a travel website and soon became the Social Media Manager. I then moved over to be the UK Social Media Manager for Flight Centre UK (one of the world’s biggest travel agents) where I managed the social and blog campaigns and doubled the Facebook following during my time there. During this time, I gained a lot of experience in campaign management and reporting, which put me a step ahead when I left to work on The Travel Hack full time.

I spent another two years travelling the world, working with brands like BA, American Express, Virgin Atlantic, Lumix, EE, Mark Warner, Teletext Holidays, FatFace and so many more.

I then slowed down the travelling for three years when I had my two little boys, George and Joseph. During this time I took on ‘The Travel Hack Team’ to take my place on exciting press trips and work on the campaigns I was unable to do.

I’m now back at the forefront of the blog, travelling with my little boys and proving you can have stylish adventures with a young family.

The Travel Hack now has more of a family vibe but we’re still dedicated to inspiring others to take more adventures, travel more, travel further and live the most exciting life possible.

Hi Monica

I love these newsletters. I thought you might like to know that I booked a last-minute trip to Tenerife after you mentioned it recently – I went and read everything in the Travel Hack archives and then convinced my husband it was a great idea to go for some winter sun! I’m 6 months preggo and it sounded miles better than walking around a city in the cold (which I would *usually* be very up for). We’re only going for three days but wouldn’t even have considered it if not for your site. Cheers!
Jemma

And a testimonial from Will Jones, editor of GapYear.Com

Monica Stott is a huge source of inspiration to me: not only utterly brilliant at what she does, but a genuinely lovely person to work with and I’m proud to call her a friend. We first worked together in Flight Centre Travel Group, managing various social media accounts and blogs for different brands, and over the years have spoken together on panels and stage at various events. In that time I’ve watched her develop her own business, The Travel Hack, into a hugely successful venture – it’s no exaggeration to say it’s one of the world’s best travel blogs – and it’s simply a reflection of her sheer talent, determination and entrepreneurial nous.
