I’ve been challenged by KAYAK to create a video showing why I love Europe in just one minute. I’m sure you’ve realised already how much I love Europe because all of my recent trips have been to European destinations.
I actually haven’t ventured any further than Europe for almost a year now and all of my trips have been within the UK and Europe because why would you go much further when we have so many incredible destinations so close?
I’ve wracked my brains to try and figure out my favourite European destination but I just can’t.
I love France for the quaint little towns filled with charm and history. I love the Algarve in Portugal for the tiny beaches and hidden coves where you feel like the only person on Earth. I love Iceland for the epic landscapes and the quirky charm of the locals. I love Budapest for the affordability, the grand architecture and the thermal baths. I love Paris for the iconic sights and the amazing food. I love Valencia for the contrast between a crumbling old city, slick and modern buildings and a gorgeous beach.
I couldn’t choose a favourite destination so I’ve made my love letter to the whole of Europe.
My favourite thing about Europe is how easily accessible it is for us Brits. Flights are quick and easy, meaning short holidays and weekend breaks are an easy option. But not only that but flights are cheap! You can get to so many amazing places around Europe for around £150 – and that’s the price I pay to get the train to London!
But it’s the variety within Europe that is so appealing. Europe is home to some of the most incredible cities in the whole world but also some of the most amazing beaches, stunning countryside, epic landscapes, cultural attractions, exciting activities and world class shopping. Oh and then there’s the food. You can’t mention Europe without talking about the food and wine.
So what’s the reason for making this little video and sharing my love for Europe?
It’s all to do with KAYAK’s Love Letters. KAYAK are committed to bringing people together through travel and, unless you’ve been hidden under a rock, you’ll have noticed that we’re growing further apart. This isn’t about politics or which way you voted, it’s about appreciating the beauty and diversity of Europe and sharing the love to bring us closer together.
Mine is a visual love letter because, sometimes, a picture speaks a thousand words and I’d need thousands and thousands to really explain my love for Europe!
If you’d like to create a love letter to Europe you can share it on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtags #loveurope and #KAYAKloveurope.
