For the past few weeks I’ve been testing out the iHoodwarm soft shell heated jacket and it’s time to share my thoughts!
What is a heated jacket?
A heated jacket has built-in heating elements to provide warmth and comfort in cold weather. It’s like having mini radiators inside your coat and they’re positioned just where you need them such as near the pockets, around the neck and in the back and chest panels.
These jackets are designed to keep you warm by distributing heat throughout the jacket, typically using battery-powered heating elements or heating panels.
Heated jackets have been popular with people who spend a lot of time outdoors, whether for work or leisure, but they’re becoming more of an everyday outfit as they increase in popularity.
I wear mine for lots of everyday situations such as walking my dog and doing the school run.
What makes the iHoodwarm heated jacket better than other brands?
Quite simply, the iHoodwarm heated jacket gets hotter!
Most heated jackets heat to about 140 degrees fahrenheit. The iHoodwarm heated jacket gets up to 150 degrees fahrenheit (65-70°C) and claims to be the hottest heated jacket on the market!
I’ve tested out lots of heated jackets and vests and I can confirm that it does feel warmer than others. It also seems to heat up faster and I’m pleasantly surprised by the battery life!
It also comes in a nice, zippable bag and comes with a high quality battery, so this heated jacket does feel like better quality than others on the market.
How do you control the heated jacket?
This jacket is fully customizable and is controlled via the button on the front which looks like a regular logo.
Press for 3 seconds to turn on/off.
Press once to change from high, medium or low heat levels levels. You can always control which parts of the heated jacket need more heat. The light-off function that makes you less likely to be exposed during night hunting and activities.
There are 4 sections on the button. One to control the hood, one for the chest and pockets, one for the back and collar and the bottom button turns the light on or off.
You can turn on or off any section and have each section on different heat settings if required.
High capacity battery
The battery it comes with is brilliant and it slips inside an inside pocket. You recharge it by USB and it lasts between 3.5 and 7 hours depending on the heat setting you have your jacket on.
You can also use this battery to charge your phone while you’re on the go so it has a double benefit!
Style and design of the iHoodwarm soft shell heated jacket
The style of the iHoodwarm soft shell heated jacket is fairly nondescript. It’s suitable for casual and outdoor settings and would blend with almost all casual outfits. It’s weather resistant so it’s perfect for rainy or windy days and comes in black, pink and purple (for women).
For me personally, I found the small to be a little too big. I’m a UK size 8 (US size 4) and I could have done with it being a little smaller.
There’s a velcro patch on the arm to add a badge (the model on the website wears a US flag badge) and it would be nice if iHoodwarm provided a badge to go on here. I don’t have any badges and, to me, it just looks like the badge has fallen off.
I’ve also reviewed the iHoodwarm vest which, for me, is a little more versatile as you can wear it beneath any other coat meaning it’s suitable for lots of occasions. I wear mine beneath a formal coat for smart occasions and also beneath a waterproof jacket for dog walks!
