Get your boots on: How to style Hunter boots for every situation!

Summer may be on its way but, when you live in Wales, wellies are always a good idea!

Wales is all about the great outdoors with gorgeous beaches, mountains, forests, pretty villages and more than our fair share of countryside pubs! Our only problem in Wales is the fact there’s always the chance of rain; so whether you’re heading to the beach, sight-seeing around the coast or traipsing through muddy fields, you always need your wellies.

I’ve teamed up with Very.com to show how gorgeously versatile a nice pair of Hunter boots can be. Here’s where I’ve been wearing my wellies around Wales this week for May half term and how I’ve styled them for lots of different moods…

I’ve got a few really lovely bits from Very for the spring/summer season. They have some gorgeous coats and jackets and I have one from Joules which is reversible, so it’s perfect for travel because it feels like getting two jackets in one without having to pack too much!

I have the tall Hunter boots in olive green and I’ve even surprised myself with how much I’ve been wearing them. You might not think of them as a spring footwear staple but they really are!

Newborough Nature Reserve

Newborough Beach and Forest is my favourite beach in Wales. There are so many nice beaches but, honestly, nothing compares to Newborough.

You begin by walking through a magical pine forest with towering trees blocking the view until you emerge at the edge and see that golden sand! The beach stretches for miles and in the background you’ll see the spectacular Snowdonia mountain range.

If you walk towards the right you’ll come to a more rugged section of the beach or go towards Llanddwyn Island. At low tide you can walk straight onto the island but at high tide those wellies will come in handy because you need to wade across through the sea.

Llanddwyn Island is much more peaceful than the main beach thanks to the smaller beaches and coves which are ideal for swimming and sunbathing. At the end of the island you’ll find a small lighthouse and wild ponies roaming around.

South Stack Lighthouse, Anglesey

South Stack Lighthouse is such an iconic spot in Anglesey. It’s the most north-easterly point on the island and is a beautiful place to go and watch the sunset…if you can see the sun that is!

We visited on a typical wet and windy day. It was still beautiful but those layers were definitely needed!

Not far from South Stack Lighthouse is The Oystercatcher, a lovely restaurant and bar with a nice outdoor area. So if you’re looking for food or drinks while you’re nearby then I highly recommend!

I didn’t have my boots on on this occasion but I wanted to show you the reversible jacket!

Nant Mill is one of my favourite places for dog walks. A beautiful forest follows the river and there are lots of lovely places for a paddle. You eventually come to this gorgeous waterfall which is a popular spot for cold dips!

The forest is so pretty, especially in the spring when it’s full of blue bells. My kids love coming here to build dens with the fallen branches and my dog loves being able to zoom up and down the steep banks.

Abersoch, Llyn Peninsula

I have a static caravan in Abersoch on the Llyn Peninsula and this is our little haven. It’s not too far from home but it feels like a million miles away so I like to come with the kids whenever the sun is shining.

We’ve had every weather possible so the week was filled with sunny beach days and wet, windy walks (and a few afternoons holed up in the pub!)

Of course, my boots came with me!

I also absolutely love this shirt from Very. It has volume sleeves which makes a bit extra special!
