The 43 best travel books to read in 2018

If you made it your New Year’s Resolution to read more this year then I have some fabulous travel book suggestions for you. These are the books shortlisted for The Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards 2018. Yes, Stanford’s – that gorgeous store selling maps and books. There’s one in Covent Garden and one in Bristol and any travel book lover needs to check them out!

I used to work in Covent Garden and my office was above Stanford’s so I’d spend many a lunch time whiling away my free 30 minutes getting lost in beautiful maps and books while dreaming about far-off lands.

There are 43 titles shortlisted for The Edward Stanford Travel Writing Awards 2018 and you these travel books will whisk you off to over 150 countries…

Happy reading..

  1. I love Stanfords! I can spend hours in the one in Bristol. I always come away with so many books that I want to read so this post is perfect. Looking forward to going away and researching some of these books now.

  2. Love the list, but your children’s selection – the Oliver Jeffers book “Here We Are” – has the wrong book cover (an adult fiction book my Michael Marshall “We Are Here”)!
