Is anyone planning a holiday and feeling a bit overwhelmed? There are so many places to go, so many things to see, so many things to do. If you’re anything like me, your bucket list is just getting longer and longer and holiday planning can be tough when you just want to go everywhere!
To make the holiday planning process a bit easier, the Croatian National Tourism Board have put together a fun quiz to help you figure out what kind of vacationer (or holidayer if you’re a Brit!) you are. Thinking about what makes your perfect holiday makes it so much easier to plan your next escape. And, even better, if you take the quiz you'll be entered to win a 7 day Croatian holiday for 2!
You can find the quiz here to discover what kind of vacationer you are.
Unsurprisingly, I’m an adventurer 😉 I like to spend most of my time outdoors and finding new experiences (preferably in the sun) make my perfect holidays.
The Croatian National Tourism Board have been researching what makes the perfect holiday for British holidaymakers. What they found was pretty interesting, well interesting if you’re a holiday geek like I am.
What’s important to we Brits?
Over 85% of Brits believe a warm welcome from the locals is the most important think for a holiday abroad.
The second most important thing is cost
The third most important is quality time with friends and family
The thing that was least important was wifi and mobile phone coverage
They types of holiday-maker
They found there are 7 types of holiday-maker among us Brits and out of all the cultures they surveyed, we’re most similar to the Dutch (interesting!)
The types were
- Family organiser
- Adventurer
- Young and Free
- Romantic
- Culture Vulture
- Beach Bunny
- Go Native
They found that 20% of people like to ‘Go Native’ on holiday, living like the locals and seeking new experiences. The next most popular British holiday type is the ‘Culture Vulture’, with 18% of people most likely to be found in museums and galleries abroad. Only 1 in 8 Brits describe themselves as a typical ‘Beach Bunny’, reflecting the growing trend for a more active, authentic holiday experience.
The most family orientated holidaymakers are the Polish, who favour holidays in safe and secure destinations with activities for all ages. In contrast, the French are most likely to seek holidays where they can be ‘Young and Free’ and are more likely to pack party clothes than any other country. As for the most romantic travellers? That would the Austrians, Swiss and Swedish, who are most likely to be found on a romantic and secluded getaway.

I'm the family organiser! Sounds like I'm most like a Polish holidaymaker!

I'm most definitely a culture vulture. I'm always visiting museums and gallaries when I'm abroad. Also a little bit 'go native' when it comes to eating. I like to eat in local restaurants where the food is authentic.
