Weekend Reads 14

Weekend Reads 14

It’s been such a long time since I’ve put together a Weekend Reads post and I thought it was time to revive it. Since having George I’ve spent A LOT of time reading blogs and it’s turned out to the perfect way to keep me entertained during those long night feeds. Here’s what I’ve been reading this week…

Scilly IslandsSolo Travelling to the Scilly Islands {Heroine in Heels}

I’m going to be heading to the Scilly Islands myself in July and this post by Laura has given me a great little taster for island life. It looks gorgeous and when I put this picture on Facebook a lot of people didn’t believe it was in the UK!

Milford SoundCruising Milford Sound {Ink and Adventure}

I want to go to New Zealand so badly and this incredible collection of photos has only made that wanderlust worse. Milford Sound looks amazing.

Cost of travelling for one yearMy cost of full time travel in 2014 {The Professional Hobo}

We’re all nosy and like to know how much money people spend but this spending is even more interesting. Nora is a full time traveller and blogs about travelling in a financially sustainable way. She’s documented her exact expenditures from 2014 and you’ll be amazed at how low they are!

Couples holidays in Europe10 European Getaways for Couples {Tripsuit}

Check this out if you’re looking for a getaway with your loved one. Or even your bezza or mates. There’s some great suggestions here and I’m very pleased my blog about Iceland has been included!

Trekking in the HimalayasTrekking in the Himalayas {Miles of Happiness}

Aside from the stunning photos, here are 10 reasons why you’ll want to instantly pack your bags and head to the Himalayas.

Learning to skiHow learning to ski almost emotionally broke me {The Cosy Traveller}

Yes, yes and yes! Lots of bloggers shares these incredible videos of them whizzing down the mountain slopes looking all cool and stylish and sporty. But what they don’t tell you is that learning to ski is absolutely freaking terrifying. Thanks for sharing, Emily, you’ve made me feel more normal!

Huts in GoaYab Yum Huts in Goa {Vicky Flip Flop}

I would normally recommend you read an accommodation review unless you were planning on staying there but oh dear Lord, look at this place! Swoooon. Vicky has been to some amazing places recently so this is the kind of blog where you’ll want to grab yourself a cuppa and have a catch up.

Canon 70D3 genius travel tips to save you money + win a Canon 70D {CreativeLive}

There’s a nice little intro to travel hacking here with some tips from the travel hacking legend, Chris Guillebeau, but it’s the camera giveaway you really need to look at. I use the Canon 70D and it’s seriously the best camera ever.

One for the bloggers…

How to be a pro blogger11 secrets to becoming a professional blogger {Expert Vegabond}

Have you ever noticed that blog posts about ‘secrets’ or ‘top tips’ just offer vague and wishy washy tips that aren’t any help at all? Well this isn’t one of those posts. Big thumbs up to Expert Vegabond for putting this together because it’s really useful for anyone who wants to improve their blog or make the leap into full time or pro blogging.

Competition of the Week

date-explorer-article-image-notextWin a RTW trip! {Match.com}

Match.com are looking for a Date Explorer to travel around the world and sample the local dating scene. The winner will travel to New York, Rio de Janeiro, Rome, Stockholm and Paris for a 6 week, all expenses paid trip!

“From salsa dancing to saunas, café culture to cocktail bars, we want to know what makes daters around the world tick – and we want YOU to find out.”

So if you’re single and you love to travel, check this one out. I seriously hope that whoever wins this ends up finding the love of their life. Wouldn’t that be the best story for their grandkids!

This is such a good idea! Such a great way to spread the word of other peoples blogs and get connected in the blogging community. Something I'd love to be apart of. Nice work! https://aworldlyaddiction.wordpress.com/

I'll have to check some of these out - the only one I've read in full was Expert Vegabond's piece on becoming a professional travel blogger... my head is still swirling from all that information!

Thanks for the kind mention! My annual cost of full-time travel and income reports tend to be my most popular. Stay tuned for my income report - coming on Monday!

Thanks so much for including my ski post on your great Weekend Reads list :D And YES, skiing is nothing like I thought it would be - still bloomin' good fun though, if infuriating to begin with :P x
