I’m on a mission to find THE best women’s waterproof trousers. I’ve been looking for a long time! Ladies waterproof trousers are surprisingly expensive and they’re often unflattering, uncomfortable or simply way out of my budget.
So I’ve searched high and low for the very best ladies waterproof trousers and here’s what I found…
Craghoppers Kiwi Pro II Waterproof Trousers
Best for: Practical + best value
First up we have the Craghoppers Kiwi Pro II Waterproof Trousers. They were £90 and were reduced to £45. Personally, I think it’s a great price at £45 but overpriced at £90.
These are an overtrouser so they’re a good option if you already have leggings you like to walk in. Just pop them in the bottom of your backpack and bring them out when it rains. These have zippy pockets, they’re definitely very waterproof (not just ‘water resistant’) and they have a fleece waistband which makes them very comfortable. I’d say they’re the most practical and best value option.
They don’t exactly win any points for style. This are bog standard and basic but if you’re looking for women’s waterproof trousers that are basic, affordable and do the job then these are the ones.
Acai softshell leggings
Best for: Water resistant leggings
Next up we have the Acai softshell leggings which are £55 (use code THETRAVELHACK for 10% off your whole order). These are waterproof, have an adjustable waistband and that flattering cross waist. They’ve got a zippable pocket on the side.
They don’t have much stretch in them and the material is quite rough but once I had them on I really liked them.
Baleaf fleece lined leggings from Amazon
Best for: Comfort
Next it’s the Baleaf water resistant, fleece lined leggings from Amazon. These were £32 so they were the cheapest ladies waterproof trousers. They’re the comfiest, cosiest and softest and I liked the side pockets that are big enough for your phone, the reflective patches and the zips up the ankles. Unfortunately, these definitely aren’t waterproof and that fleece lining would get soggy and heavy. I’d say they’re slightly water resistant so they’d be fine for a very light shower of rain but not much else. These would be nice combined with the Craghopper over-trousers.

Max Stretch Skinny Outdoor trousers from Acai
Best for: Style
Next it’s the Max Stretch Skinny Outdoor trousers from Acai. They’re £79 (use code THETRAVELHACK for 10% off your whole order) and they’re quite thin but they are flexible and comfortable and definitely water resistant, so a great hiking trouser for warmer weather. I also love these in Forest Green but Acai trousers do come in most colours so don’t let the colour sway you.
These have the same cut to a nice pair of skinny jeans but they’re much softer, more flexible and water resistant so that’s why they’re the winners for style.
Thermal Skinny outdoor trousers from Acai
Best for: Overall winner
Finally it’s the Thermal Skinny outdoor trousers from Acai. They’re the most expensive at £99 (use code THETRAVELHACK for 10% off your whole order) but they really do tick all the boxes. Fleece lined so they’re super cosy and warm, definitely shower resistant and they pretty much look like jeans so they’re stylish and comfy. These are the winners for me but I do want to switch them for forest green.
For me, the winner is the thermal skinny outdoor trousers from Acai for style and substance. The most practical and best value are the Craghoppers overtrousers because I think you’d still be wearing these in 20 years time.
